1541. Navy takes delivery of first P17A advanced guided-missile frigate Himgiri from GRSE
- On July 31, 2025, Defence PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd delivered Himgiri, an advanced guided missile frigate to the Indian Navy. This was the first of three such warships being built by GRSE under the Indian Navy's Project 17A.
- Equipped with BrahMos and Barak 8 missiles, the 149-meter and 6,670 tonne warship significantly enhances naval capabilities. Himgiri, the 112th warship from GRSE, is capable of anti-air, anti-surface, and anti-submarine warfare.
- The three ships are worthover ₹21,833.36 crore, have boosted MSMEs, start-ups, and employment in India’s shipbuilding sector. Himgiri offers accommodation for 225 personnel and full helicopter operations capability.
- GRSE is building 15 warships, with Androth and Ikshak ready for delivery and 13 more are in under construction.
1542. Deendayal Port commissions India’s first 1 MW green hydrogen plant in Kandla
- On July 31, 2025, Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla, commissioned India’s first “Make-in-India” 1 MW Green Hydrogen Plant, marking a significant milestone in the country’s clean energy journey.
- The plant was virtually inaugurated by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, with the presence of Minister of State Shantanu Thakur, Secretary T.K. Ramachandran, and DPA Chairman Sushil Kumar Singh, alongside officials from L&T.
- The initiative aims to accelerate India’s clean energy transition through indigenous green hydrogen production at major port facilities.
1543. Indian Railways deploys indigenous safety system Kavach 4.0 on Delhi-Mumbai route
- On July 31, 2025, Indian Railways has commenced the deployment of its most advanced indigenous train safety system, Kavach 4.0, with its first operational rollout on the Mathura-Kota stretch of the high-traffic Delhi-Mumbai corridor.
- Kavach 4.0, introduces certain upgrades in technology and safety features, aimed at reducing human error and ensuring safer railway operations.
- The system functions by using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags installed at one-kilometre intervals along railway tracks and at key signal points. It has been approved for use on trains operating at speeds of up to 160 kmph.
- According to Indian Railways, the system is in use across over 4,000 km of rail tracks, covering 708 stations and 1,107 locomotives.
1544. India outpaces Japan in solar energy generation, becomes 3rd-largest producer
- On July 31, 2025, India surpassed Japan in total solar energy generation from non-fossil sources becoming the third largest producer globally. India is now producing 1,08,494 GWh compared to Japan’s 96,459 GWh.
- India's solar capacity driven by large scale solar parks, rooftop installations and government programs like PM-KUSUM and solar auctions under SECI.
- The milestone positions India as a key player in global renewable energy efforts, aiding both energy security and climate commitments.
1545. Central govt approves Rs 615 cr special capital assistance to Uttarakhand, CM Dhami expresses happiness
- On July 30, 2025 the Central Government approved ₹615 crore special capital assistance to Uttarakhand under the SASCI scheme. ₹380.201 crore has already been released, supporting 37 development schemes in the state.
- CM Pushkar had effectively advocated for these schemes before the Finance Ministry. The approval supports the vision of making this decade one of Uttarakhand's development, with major funding for medical colleges, drinking water, and infrastructure.
- Fund allocations include ₹218.45 crore for medical colleges, ₹70 crore for Song Dam project, ₹47.33 crore for power transmission lines, and over ₹80 crore for higher and technical education. Projects also cover police stations, start-up hubs, and city infrastructure.
1546. Indian Coast Guard gets fast patrol vessel 'Atal' for guarding India's coastal borders
- On July 30, 2025, The Indian Coast Guard's sixth indigenously built Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) ‘Atal’ was launched at Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL), Goa by Smt. Shilpa Agarwal in the presence of Shri Rozy Agarwal.
- Designed in-house by GSL, ‘Atal’ features over 60% indigenous content, is 52 meters long and displaces 320 tonnes. It is the sixth in a series of eight FPVs under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
- The vessel will strengthen the Indian Coast Guard’s capabilities in coastal security, anti-smuggling, anti-piracy, and search and rescue operations. It also helps protect India’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and island territories, reinforcing maritime security and self-reliance in Defence manufacturing.
1547. Ministry of Heavy Industries Allocates ₹2,000 Cr Under PM E-DRIVE to Boost EV Charging; 4,625 Stations in Tier-2 Cities
- The Ministry of Heavy Industries has approved a budget of ₹2,000 crore to install 4,625 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across 460 cities, with a focus on Tier-2 cities to strengthen India’s EV ecosystem.
- Boost: The initiative targets better public accessibility to EV charging, aiming to reduce range anxiety and accelerate adoption, particularly in underdeveloped EV markets outside metro areas.
- Focusing on Cleaner Mobility move aligns with India’s broader sustainability goals, reducing vehicular emissions and promoting green transport, contributing to India’s net-zero ambitions.
1548. आरती साहा: इंग्लिश चैनल पार करने वाली पहली एशियाई महिला
- 29 सितंबर 1959 को, आरती साहा इंग्लिश चैनल पार करने वाली पहली एशियाई महिला बनीं। उनका जन्म 24 दिसंबर 1940 को हुआ था।
- बचपन से ही वह एक प्रतिभाशाली तैराक थीं। साल 1952 में उन्होंने हेलसिंकी ओलंपिक में भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व किया, और ऐसा करने वाली वह पहली भारतीय महिला बनीं।
- उनकी इस ऐतिहासिक सफलता के बाद भारत सरकार ने उन्हें 1960 में पद्मश्री पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया।
- 1999 में उनके सम्मान में एक डाक टिकट भी जारी किया गया। 23 अगस्त 1994 को आरती साहा का निधन हो गया, लेकिन आरती साहा का साहस और संकल्प आज भी लोगों को प्रेरित करता है।

- On 30 July 2025, it was reported that India’s tyre exports to the UK reached ₹732 crore in FY25, marking an 11% rise from ₹660 crore in FY24, driven by the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
- The growth followed CETA, which eliminated all customs duties on Indian tyre and rubber exports to the UK, boosting market access and enhancing price competitiveness for Indian manufacturers.
- Exports to the UK have grown from ₹602 crore in FY23 to ₹732 crore in FY25. The deal also includes phased tariff cuts on UK tyre imports to India over 10 years, ensuring balanced protection and global opportunity.

1550. NISAR satellite, riding on a GSLV satellite, lifts off from Sriharikota
- On July 30, 2025, India and the U.S. launched a joint NASA-ISRO satellite named NISAR, aimed at tracking climate threats from space. The satellite aboard the GSLV-F16 rocket took off from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
- NISAR uses dual frequency radar technology, making it highly accurate in observing land and ice surface movements, helping researchers better understand natural disasters and climate related events.
